A tavern which has become a gastronomic benchmark

La Bodeguilla de San Roque was born in 1986 at an old tavern. It is a restaurant which throws itself into the city and into Galician culture and has already celebrated its silver anniversary.

La Bodeguilla de San Roque has been in the quarter with its same name for the last 26 years

As its name suggests, it is located in San Roque quarter, in the very heart of Santiago’s historic centre. Over the past 26 years, La Bodeguilla has become a gastronomic and cultural benchmark. It has recover the taverns spirit, a place to meet and to converse in. This charming restaurant is a benchmark among citizens of Compostela, tourists, and pilgrims.

In order to celebrate its 25th anniversary, it made a tribute to the St. James Way. Every month, it showed the rich and fruitful gastronomic repertory of the Way, from Aragón, January menu, to Compostela, which closed the tribute on July.

Oenology is another bet of the restaurant which mainly focuses in dignifying Galician wines, the perfect match for the local gastronomy offer: Iberian ham and bread with tomato, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, octopus, fresh fish, Galician veal, Iberian meats, etc.

As wine is considered as a ‘local treasure’ La Bodeguilla properly cares about it thus its customers can really enjoy it. It has meant several acknowledgements such as the best Ribeira Sacara menu by the Sommeliers Association ‘Gallaecia’.

The new Bodeguillas

The success of La Bodeguilla de San Roque led to the opening of two new restaurants, La Bodeguilla de San Lázaro and, recently, La Bodeguilla de Santa Marta. In both of them, daily suggestions are based on seasonal fish, meats, and vegetables, product from the local market which share their importance with the traditional salads or ‘tixolas’ with octopus, mushrooms, etc.

These are the same dishes as always at new and modern restaurants where eating is a real pleasure.
